Z travels : Nathiagali #beautiful Pakistan

Last weekend took me to Nathiagali for a conference. The flight was from Karachi to Islamabad and then three hours by car to Nathiagali.
I was amazed and mesmerized by the beauty and quiet of this place. I stayed at a place called 'Summer retreat'.

 I had left the heat of Karachi to see the winter of Nathiagali. I woke early only to find that breakfast will be served three hours later. I usually take an electric kettle, tea bags and rainbow milk with me for readily available chai. So after a cup of chai, I decided to take a mini hike around.

Adjacent to Summer retreat was Hotel green retreat.
Near Nathiagali is a place called Abashar. Its a waterfall area. Pictured is me with my friends figuring ourselves out for a group picture.
It has multiple small dhabas and tables and chairs placed along the route of waterfall. They serve garam garam pakoras with chai.

 
  
Travel is amazing. Pakistan is amazing.

Things that matter It was quite a busy week. I spent time in a room of a dying patient- heard all the conversations- they spoke about all that eventually matters- they just wanted her to know that she was loved. She was appreciated for all the joy that she added to their lives. No one spoke of money, careers, petty grievances. Weekend update: caterpillars, chais, beginnings and reading snippets

 I took a day off work and it felt like the best decision ever! The day was just beautiful, nice and sunny. I had a girl meet up with my friend. She had her 18 month son with her. He has the most perfect dimples when he smiles. We had to sit in a children's area so he could let us talk. Here is what I made out of his veggies..... We had chai Latte. It's chai made with cinnamon and is frothy like coffee.  New beginnings this week I started a group called Quran sisters. In this small group we are learning to understand Arabic in order to understand namaz and quran better. Its going to be baby steps, but I hope to be persistent. On the same note, after months of planning, today I started the weight training. I just exercised with 1 kg weight in each hand. Slow and steady is how I plan to continue.  With food, united we stand My Indian work colleague shared dhokla with me. It was delicious! Welcome to the weekend post! This is Zarka and here is what I have been upto. In order to continuously learn and evolve, I am trying to read 10 pages from a book everyday- sometimes I read less, at times more. Say hi to this tiny book that am reading.  I loved this quote by Mother Teresa, "We cannot do great things on this earth. We can only do small things with great love". So let me walk you around the small things I did with great love. In order to eat healthier, I am trying to follow the 'Ikigai' books Japanese ideology of eating a rainbow meal. Eating fresh means chopping a lot of stuff. I place this time and effort into my 'exercise time' slot. Not easy this buying, washing, chopping business! Life is replacing chai with coffee. And this card makes me look forward to a free coffee. We call it 'mufta' in Pakistan. No matter what, cant get the mufta out of me. Dont have the perfect translation for mufta.
