Eid

Its that time of the year again. Its the 29th fast and everybody is almost hundred percent sure that its Eid tomorrow. Chand raat and fate decides that we should be oncall....
Hajra stays till iftari. Beenish (rotating in pulmonology), pages me to order food for iftari. After much brain storming, and a lot of phoning here and there we order the McDonald's iftari deal.
Eventually the time comes. Maghrib Azaan. The food is there. Chicken wings, chicken burger, and drink. We also order Sundaes. During the course of the meal Beenish continues to say, "this is too good, I'm lovin it!"
We then go outside for moon sighting, but its cloudy outside. We leave the job for Mufti Sahab and offer prayers.

Later its the usual stuff in hospitals. Patients and more patients. But its festive. The doctors look happy, the staff excited. The staff in private wing collect money and decorate the private wing with frills and it looks amazing.

Mehndi and me
At three am my patient becomes sick. An hour is spent around her. As it is four am by now, I request a nurse if she could apply mehndi on my hands and she happily complies.
The designs she applies are amazing!
(By the way these hands are not mine.)

The eid day
The weather is just amazing. Everybody is excited. People (doctors) arriving look very nice. Pink joras, mehndis, bangles. Dr Qamar Masood says, "Thora say hota hay kay eid hay aur hospital main hain, laikin phir shukar kartay hain kay hospital mein hain aur jail main nahin, aur us say bhi ziada kushi kay hospital main doctor hain, mareez naheen!".

Third day and travelling.
Second day of eid is spent lazily. The third day we decide to head for Thatta, keenjhar lake and makli.
The amazing weather continues. Keenjhar lake was just amazing! The greenery surrounding it perfect. We later visited the Badshahi mosque in Thatta. The detail in the architecture was spell bounding.
The last destination was Makli. Its basically a graveyard of the kings and rich people of hundreds of years back.

The only thing ironic is that in a country with such rich heritage, we just donot appreciate it enough. If all this was in any other country they would have made it into the ultimate tourist site. I guess most of us have never even visited the place despite being only two hours away.

Below is the video made of the pics we took. The video stars my brothers and father.
