A different ball game altogether!

Month changes, rotation changes. And I hate that. I always think that I won't be able to adjust, and I always prove myself wrong. Post two months of ICU, comes medicine night cover. In it you are oncall every other day. There are no new patients admitted. You just have to take care of two teams admitted patients. There is an intern or an year one who manages things and all you have to do is make sure things are done.



Episode One

Day one. I'm made my sisters senior. OK. I think I am a little bossy, so I thought I'd fare well. Post call I am pretty satisfied. One rush call at about 2:30 am. As I leave the resort (that's what Hajra and I call the new call rooms, their only caveat, they are in gynaecology ward,which is far far away from the main medicine ward.), Dr Naureen (our year four resident ,also oncall), is behind me. Its me rushing, and Dr Naureen following . After what seems like a hundred meter race we finally reach the rush call scene. Young female , breathless , but stable. Blood gas and chest xray turns out fine. As we move back, Dr Naureen and I laugh at the marathon we just had. I leave for the continuation of my dreams.

I don’t even remember when was the last time I d written a post. I do remember prompting my ex-interns (who’ll always be my interns) into writing a post for me some time back.  As I sit under the mango tree with my green tea (with the lemon drops) I collect myself on how to begin. Apriling clinicking I rotated in clinics in April. The month of my birthday. April fool. I grow an year older as the clinics proceed. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are clinic days. Tuesdays and Fridays are days of almost nothingness. The nurses like me there (or so I think). "Daikh bilkul hamaray jaisee hay , har waqt khatee rahtee hay!", one of them beams. Weekend update: caterpillars, chais, beginnings and reading snippets

 I took a day off work and it felt like the best decision ever! The day was just beautiful, nice and sunny. I had a girl meet up with my friend. She had her 18 month son with her. He has the most perfect dimples when he smiles. We had to sit in a children's area so he could let us talk. Here is what I made out of his veggies..... We had chai Latte. It's chai made with cinnamon and is frothy like coffee.  New beginnings this week I started a group called Quran sisters. In this small group we are learning to understand Arabic in order to understand namaz and quran better. Its going to be baby steps, but I hope to be persistent. On the same note, after months of planning, today I started the weight training. I just exercised with 1 kg weight in each hand. Day three, Holiday!

Its holiday. Finally. For a total of sixteen days. Two days gone.  Third underway.  Lucky morning I wake up relatively early for a holiday. I enjoy morinngs. After making nashta and fixing lunch for Baba I with a cup of tea, settle in front of the computer. I try finding my unfinished synopsis file. It isnt there. Its evaporated, I finally bring myself to belief. I ask Arif (my brother) for technical help. He has none. He comes up with emotional one. "Everything has a silver lining!", he tells me. "I 'll make a better synopsis this time around then", I console myself. "No but a loss is a loss", Arif just has to continue. I type 'gaana.com' and listen to a new song, 'Sanwar loooooooon, sanwar looooooooon'. It sounds beautiful.  Of hot afternoons I tell Ami that I wont be makin lunches, only dinners.
